Maverick - a person who thinks and acts independently, often behaving differently from the expected or usual way.

The project explores the lives of young people in Bulgaria, who decided to relocate to rural areas and villages and have a deep connection with nature. This process was forced during the Covid pandemic. At the heart of my photographic research are two problems. The first relates to the overwhelming stress of modern society and the salvation that more and more young people are finding by settling in rural areas. The second theme is related to the Bulgarian countryside - an increasing number of Bulgarian villages are becoming dilapidated without the state making much effort to develop and settle the areas.

Although some felt the need to move away from the big city and the stress even before the pandemic, the home office and isolation helped many more young people understand and feel the need for a more peaceful and environmentally friendly life.
